Background
We first met Mr. and Mrs. Good at a local home show. They were hesitant to move forward with exterior upgrades after receiving a quote from another company for nearly $100,000 for new doors and siding. Their wish list included a bold, modern look with the stone detailing they’d always dreamed of, but they didn’t think it would be possible within their budget.
After reviewing their goals and style preferences, we were able to create a plan that not only met their vision but cut the price in half; without compromising on quality, durability, or curb appeal.
Challenges
- Outdated beige siding with visible wear and fading
- A flat, undefined front entry lacking architectural character
- Plain foundation wall contributing to a “boxy” look
- A worn storm door and main entry door that no longer fit their desired style
Our Solution
1. Removal of Old Materials
We began by removing the old door, storm door, frame, and siding to prepare the home for a complete transformation.
2. Premium Alside Ascend Siding
- Chosen Color: Coal Black with Snow Mist accents for a striking, modern contrast.
- Why This Matters: Alside Ascend siding offers exceptional durability, minimal maintenance, and is engineered to withstand Maryland’s varied climate.
3. Upgraded Entryway
- Main Door: ProVia Heritage Smooth Fiberglass in Coal Black, paired with a nickel metal Georgian-style handle for a sophisticated touch.
- Storm Door: ProVia Deluxe with frost glass for year-round use.
- Added FrameSaver threshold for long-term durability.
- Installed side pilasters with a crosshead to frame the entryway and create a welcoming focal point.
4. Stone Facade Installation
- Material: CertainTeed StoneFacade in Adirondack Snowfall.
- Applied to the lower portion of the home to add rich texture, depth, and the stone look the clients had been dreaming of.
Results
Before: Faded beige siding, red shutters, and a plain front entry left the home looking dated.
After: A dramatic transformation featuring bold charcoal siding, crisp white trim, black shutters, and an elegant stone accent wall. The refreshed entryway now commands attention and complements the updated facade perfectly.
